Rudolph Cartier

Rudolf Katscher ( born April 17, 1904 in Vienna as Rudolf Kacser, † June 8, 1994 in London) was an Austrian writer, film and television director.

He studied architecture at the School of Applied Arts Vienna and then worked as a journalist for the Neue Wiener Tageblatt. Since 1928, he wrote screenplays for the German film and settled in Berlin. He specialized in crime films and wrote, among other things, on the script for the Edgar Wallace film The Squeaker with.

After the seizure of power by the National Socialists Katscher returned to Austria and directed some movies there. In 1935, he emigrated to London and called himself now Rudolf Cartier. In addition to smaller script works, he functioned as a source of ideas, for example, The Man from Morocco (1944). In 1952 he got a job at the BBC, where he staged plays for television and produced. Later he also worked on behalf of ARD.
