Ruins of Quilmes

The fortification of Quilmes is in the northwest of Argentina, in the far west of the province of Tucumán. It was built by the same people Quilmes as protection against the invading Spaniards.

The Ruins of Quilmes were discovered an archaeologist from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in the last century by Juan Bautista Ambrosetti. The restoration project started in 1978 by group of researchers, led by Norberto Pelissero. Today, it is criticized that the criteria applied here seem more touristy than anthropological.
