Rumer Godden

Margaret Rumer Godden OBE ( born December 10, 1907 in Eastbourne, East Sussex, † November 8, 1998 in Dumfriesshire, Scotland ) was an English writer.

After Godden had in its first forty years of life lived mostly in India and there passed a ballet school more than 20 years, she left in 1949 finally settled in the United Kingdom. She wrote more than 60 books, mostly novels, which achieved high volume part and were also filmed. Among her most successful works include The Black Narcissus. The River, The Doll 's House, An Episode of Sparrows, Greengage Summer and The Diddakoi.

1993 Godden was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire. She died in 1998 at the age of 90 years.
