Rungnado

Rungna, also called rungra, is an island in the Taedong - gang in North Korea. It belongs, as well as the further south island Yanggak, the district Chung- guyŏk the North Korean capital Pyongyang.
The small island is south of the river connected to the mainland in the north of the Taedong - gang and the Municipality Taedonggang - guyŏk with the Rungna Bridge and the Chongnyu Bridge. It covers an area of 1.3 square kilometers.
On Rungna is the May Day Stadium, which is having a capacity of 150,000 spectators one of the largest stadiums in the world.
Between the Bridge and the Chongnyu Rungna Bridge extends over an area of around 1,500 square meters of Rungrado park with an arboretum, a topiary garden and a zoo. It is also the Rungrado waterworks was built around 1900 as the first modern water supply system of Pyongyang from the Japanese. Water from the Taedong - gang was cleaned there and pumped into a collection bin on the Moran Hill.
In July 2012, Kim Jong-un opened the public park Rungna, an amusement park with dolphinarium, swimming pool, sport areas, mini golf course and a variety of rides.
The mountain cherry trees and Manchurian fir trees on the island are listed under the natural monuments of North Korea with the Sort Number 1.
