Rupert a place and the county seat of Minidoka County is in the U.S. state of Idaho.

Geography

The place is located 5 km north of Interstate 84 between Twin Falls and Pocatello and about 25 km of the Minidoka Dam and Lake Walcott reservoir. Rupert covers an area 5.3 km ² vo (2.0 mi ²).

History

With the completion of Minidoka Dam, there was electricity in abundance. Rupert was one of the first cities which changed their city lighting to electricity. Rupert was founded on April 12, 1906. The place was also called Gem City Gem City, and officially named as the Christmas City in November 1987. With much effort, the old Historic District is made with the restoration of the old Wilson Theatre from 1920 again.
