Rurka, Gryfino County

Rurka ( German Rörchen ) is a town in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. He belongs to the urban and rural community Chojna ( Konigsberg in Neumark ) in the powiat Gryfiński ( Greifenhagener circle).

Geographical location

The place is located in Eastern Pomerania on the border with Neumark, about five kilometers northeast of Chojna ( Konigsberg in Neumark ) and about 50 kilometers south of Stettin.

History

Was Rörchen the river Röhrike founded as a branch ( Commandery ) of the Knights Templar. The office was on the runway, the Duke Barnim I of Pomerania had given to the Knights Templar in 1234. The mention of Rorkam in a deed Duke Barnim I of 1244 may refer to the place, but also possibly just over the river. In Rörchen presented 1248 Bishop William of Pomerania from a certificate. As commanders of the Templars in Rörchen Friedrich ( 1263 ), Dietrich, Bernhard von Eberstein and Jordan of Esebeck have survived.

With the abolition of the Knights Templar in 1312 Duke Otto I of Pomerania surrendered its ownership of the Order of St. John, including Rörchen. The Hospitallers were talking in Rörchen also a Commandery; as the first Commander of book is called 1334 Henning. The building of the Commandery were destroyed in 1377 in a feud with the citizens of the city of Königsberg in the Neumark, only the chapel remains. The Order of St John then moved his Commandery for game breaking.

1779 passed in Rörchen a Vorwerk and 39 households.

Before 1945 Rörchen formed a municipality in the district Greifenhagen in the Prussian province of Pomerania.

In 1945 Rörchen how completely Pomerania to Poland. The Polish government gave the place the name Rurka. The German population was replaced by Polish immigrants.

Attractions

  • The chapel of the former Templar is received about half. She had been converted into a distillery in 1874, the eastern gable and the vault had been removed.
  • The village church is a half-timbered building without a tower with a pulpit altar from the 18th century.
