Ruskin College

The Ruskin College, Oxford is an independent college, whose members participate in the courses offered by University of Oxford. Unlike most Oxford colleges, it is none of the constituent colleges of the University and its members normally acquire degrees from the University of Oxford. It is named after John Ruskin and in 1899 founded with the declared goal of enabling members of the English working class training that enables them to take on leading roles in the labor movement, especially in trade unions, the Labour Party, unions and the like. Even today, the College designated as working class stratum of English society is committed, which, inter alia, in its focus on adult applicants with few formal qualifications expressed ( the average age of his students is, according to Ruskin College at 35 years ).
