Ruth Hausmeister

Ruth caretaker ( born June 5, 1912 in Stuttgart, † February 1, 2012 in Munich) was a German actress.

Life

She attended a Waldorf school and received ballet lessons. As a ballet apprentice she had first appearances at the Württemberg State Theatre in Stuttgart.

After drama school she worked as an actress from 1933 to 1934 at the City Theater Nordhausen, from 1934 to 1935 at the Stadttheater St. Gallen and from 1936 to 1937 at the Munich Chamber games as well as for the Munich cabaret The Nachrichter.

From 1937 to 1938 she acted at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, where she met her future husband Carl -Heinz Schroth. The marriage produced two daughters, Sabine originate ( born 1940 ) and Catherine ( b. 1945 ).

In the years 1938 to 1939 she was employed at the Residenz Theater Wiesbaden and again from 1940 to 1942 at the Thalia Theater. From 1943 to 1944 she appeared at the soldiers Stage Berlin.

From 1946 to 1949 she was engaged at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, and by 1950 at the Renaissance Theatre. She has performed at the Schiller Theatre and the Castle Park and Theater Hebbel Theater. She has appeared at the Munich Studio Theater and at the Schauspielhaus Bochum.

Later roles were the title character in Gorky's Vassa Schelesnowa, Mrs. John in Hauptmann's The rats Mrs. Venable in Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer, Mrs Vocke Rath in Hauptmann's Lonely people, old woman in Thomas Bernhard's A Party for Boris and the title character in Sternheim's The Marchioness of Arcis.

She starred in feature films, television dramas and series, most recently in the ZDF crime series Two brothers. Caretaker was also radio play spokeswoman for RIAS Berlin. She lived in Munich.
