Ruud Janssen

Ruud Janssen ( born July 29, 1959 in Tilburg ) is a Dutch painter.

Life

Janssen studied physics and mathematics. He is a teacher, artist, author, publisher and deals since the 1980s with the mail art and Fluxus activities. He organized many international mail art projects were and are various articles and magazines out (TAM bulletins, statements, Secret Thoughts on mail art, the IUOMA - magazine), as well as booklets on its TAM publications.

In 1983 he was curator of the largest collection of international rubber stamp, which also enjoys international reputation. In the same year he founded the TAM - stamp archives and was one of the founders in 1985 of the IUOMA ( International Union of Mail - Artists).

One of the major mail-art projects that Janssen has pointed out, the Mail Interview Project ( 1994-2001 ). Using different forms of communication simultaneously several interviews were conducted worldwide. Were interviewed while Fluxus artist Dick Higgins, Ken Friedman, and several active mail art artists like Klaus Groh, Ray Johnson, Ruggero Maggi and Anna Banana. The interviews are published in hard copy, but also published on several websites. In 1996 he started his anthology on the internet that he regularly extended.

Since 2001 he has concentrated more on painting with acrylics on paper, canvas, CDs and envelopes.

Together with Litsa Spathi he founded " Fluxus Heidelberg" and makes under this name also performances. Since 2003, Litsa Spathi and Ruud Janssen cooperate in the Fluxus Heidelberg Center.
