Ruud Kuijer

Ruud Kuijer ( born June 8, 1959 in Schalkwijk, Utrecht) is a Dutch sculptor.

Biography

After his studies at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht art, he settled in Utrecht.

As a sculptor, Ruud Kuijer 1986 was famous for his abstract sculptures, in which he often processed recognizable forms. Initially passed these sculptures from harsh industrial materials, such as steel, wood and concrete. In recent years he has worked primarily with concrete.

Since 2002 Ruud Kuijer working on a group of seven large sculptures on a promontory on the Amsterdam - Rhine Canal in Utrecht. For this project, under the name of Sculpture at Land's End on the industrial estate location pasture, which he himself initiated, he was awarded the 2004 Fentener van Vlissingen Culture Prize and in 2005 the Dutch Concrete Award.

Ruud Kuijer calls his sculptures Waterwerken (water works / water works of art ), because of the different levels at which the sculptures stand in relation to the water. He has since completed five large sculptures, and the Water Plant V under the title Circuit was set up in June 2009. In May 2008, the sculpture was erected Springtij ( spring tide ) in front of the main building of Boskalis in Papendrecht.
