History

The place is by Stephen W. Ryan, a farmer from the people of the Quapaw (Arkansas ), named. He settled in 1875 in the region - at that time the territory of the Chickasaw tribe in Indian Territory - and had extensive landholdings. Its about 1877 built house was the first residential building in the village. The actual urban development began with the construction of a station on the Chicago, rock Iceland and Pacific Railroad in 1892, three years later, a major fire destroyed almost the young settlement.
