Ryongsong-guyok

Ryongsong - guyŏk is one of the 18 districts of Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.

It is located north of the city and is bordered to the east by P'yŏngsŏng, the capital of the province P'yŏngan - namdo. South of Ryongsong - guyŏk are the districts Ŭnjŏng - guyŏk and Samsŏk - guyŏk, east Taesong - guyŏk. In the west, the districts Hyŏngjesan - guyŏk and Sunan - guyŏk adjoin.

Ryongsong - guyŏk was established in September 1959 from several districts of the former county Sunan -gun as a municipality. For foreigners and tourists, the suburb is not accessible in contrast to the city usually.

Buildings and facilities

The area is used for agriculture and preferably as an industrial location. There also are several offices of the North Korean Ministry of State Security and the DPRK - Cuba Friendship Hwasong Cooperative Farm in the district.

The holders of power, Kim Jong -il and his sister Kim Kyong -hui, and her husband Chang Sung- taek own their residences on a common complex in Ryongsong. The complex was built in the early 1980s by the Korean People's Army, which also has some facilities in close proximity.

Kim Jong- il took from 20 August to 4. October 1962 in a camp in Ryongsong in a training session of the North Korean People's Army in part. The site was established in 1979 for visitors to the historic site, the site Oun revolution, expanded, inter alia, the former property Kims can be seen and its activities there is honored.

Administrative divisions
