Saas im Prättigau

Saas (? / I Romansh Sausch ) is in Prättigau a municipality in the district Prättigau- Davos in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

Adoption of the subject used in sealing the Ten Federal Court and the Court of the monastery since the 16th centuries, the coat of arms; to distinguish it from similar coat of arms, the figure is presented only with shouldered club.

Geography

Saas is located on the northern side of the central Prättigau on the edge of the known tourist region of Klosters / Davos, about ten kilometers north-west of the monastery.

The territory extends from the country fourth above the space occupied by forests, meadows and pastures slope up to the peaks of Rätikons. South of the ridge, which by the upstream Saas Calanda ( 2,556 m above sea level. M. ) on the Rätschenhorn ( 2703 m) to Madrisahorn ( 2826 m, the highest point of the municipality ) pulls, are the extensive pastures of the Saas Alp. Between Madrisa and Schlappiner Spitz ( 2442 m), the prelude to the Silvretta, the municipality is bordered to around 4 km in length to Austria. South of the country Quart has Saas only a narrow strip, the Enthalbwald which up to almost 1500 m above sea level between Casolf and Cunterluzitobel. M. ranges.

The municipality located next to on a terrace about 100 m above the Landquartstrasse village of Saas are also a number of farmsteads and mountain pastures.

Neighboring municipalities are Klosters, Conters im Prättigau, Kublis, St.Antönien Ascharina, St.Antönien and St. Gall church in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg.

History

The 1290 mentioned as Säusch place belonged to the Three Leagues as part of the Court Klosters ( Ausserschnitz together with Kublis, Conters and St.Antönien left the Schanielabach ) Ten court covenant for 1436 approved. On September 5, 1622 uprising of the Prättigauer against Austrian rule ended in defeat at Aquasana on Saas Mülitobel. In 1649, the valley of Habsburg could ransom.

Economy and Transport

The National road network, the main road 28 ( called Prättigauerstrasse ) runs since 21 October 2011 on the newly opened bypass instead of the current across the village. As one of the main axes between the Rhine Valley and Klosters / Davos / Engadin it is a busy connection. Saas is now accessed via two connections at the Saas -Stutz of Kublis and in Serneus - Pagrüegg of Klosters.

The community has since 1889 a railway station on the line Landquart- Klosters ( Rhaetian Railway ). After the station was operated only sporadically since 1999, keeping since 2004, trains every hour. Additionally, upside the bus line Kublis -Saas - monastery.

On Saas territory are the top station of the gondola lift to Madrisa and a big part of the ski resort of the same name. In the village there are four hotels and inns as well as around 25 apartments. Aside from skiing to offer opportunities for hiking, snowshoeing and sledding ( sledging Madrisa Saas, 8.6 km).

Attractions

The village consists mainly of stately wooden houses that were rebuilt after the large fire in 1735. The Reformed village church dates from the late Gothic period ( net vaulting and tracery windows in the choir ), the Dome of the highly visible tower also from 1735.

The town is on the main road since 1915, a monument commemorating the Battle of Aquasana 1622. The monument was erected in chapel similar shape and houses inside an oak and a battle picture of Christian Conradin in the style of Ferdinand Hodler.
