Sabirabad District
Sabirabad is a rayon in Azerbaijan. Capital of the district is the city Sabirabad
Geography
The rayon has an area of 1,469 km ². The landscape is one in the south to the steppes of Mugan, in the north to Shirvan steppe. The rivers Kura and Aras flow through the rayon, their confluence is also located here.
Population
The district had 2009 151.100 inhabitants. This spread across 16 settlements.
Economy
In the region especially cotton and fruit are grown and operated livestock. There are also some industrial establishments which process agricultural products.
Culture
At the confluence of the Kura and Aras two cities have been found in excavations residues. In the city Sabirabad even the remains of the sanctuary pir Baba Samid lie.
