Sabri Godo

Sabri Godo ( born August 8, 1929 in Delvina, † December 3, 2011 in Tirana) was an Albanian writer and politician. He was known primarily for his historical novels about Skanderbeg and Ali Pasha Tepelenë. Godo also wrote screenplays for movies.

Life

After the anti-communist revolution in Albania 1990/91 Godo founded in 1991 the Republican Party (PR ), and was its first chairman. From 1992 to 2001 he represented his party as a deputy in the Albanian parliament. He was one of the main designers of the Constitution of Albania and was a cultured and experienced politician.

Sabri Godo suffered recently from a serious lung disease. He was admitted on November 22 in a hospital and died on 3 December 2011.
