Sachsenliga

The Saxons League (formerly division Saxony), named after the main sponsor as " Wernesgrüner Saxony League ", is the top division of the Saxon Football Association.

Structure

The Saxons League is within the gaming operation of the German Football Association since 2008, the sixth- highest division. The Master proceeding directly to Oberliga West, will determine if the regional situation, whether the association of the North or the Südstaffel is assigned. Prehistory

Today Saxony League had already in the first years after World War II precursor. After the territorial limitation of the sports movement in the Soviet occupation zone was lifted mid-1946, Saxony were formed in the country in the fall of 1946, first three soccer district leagues (Dresden, Chemnitz and Leipzig), in which only regional champions were determined without a Saxon football champions was played. In the fall of 1947, two more squadrons were added to District ( East Saxons in the area of Upper Lusatia, Saxony West for the space Zwickau- Vogtland).

Also in the 1947/48 season was again in five leagues, each one season: played (except Leipzig two seasons ). Then, a quarter-final was performed on the five district champion (except Leipzig: only the vice district champion ) took part, which was, however, stocking no longer ascertainable criteria by three other teams. The subsequent semi-finals from which the SG and the SG unit Planitz Meerane emerged victorious, only served to determine the Saxon participants in the first Ostzonenmeisterschaft. A Saxon champion was not crowned again.

The football year 1948/49, was the first time in manageable tracks. The five district champions were first summarized in a first final round in which the teams clashed once each. The first three finally played in the second final round of the Saxon football champions. The SG Dresden- Friedrichstadt defeated both unit Meerane (3:2 ) and the CCU Industry Leipzig (1:0 ), and thus became the first Saxon war champion.

In the season 1949/50, the newly created two-tier division was with 12 or 11 teams, the second- highest division in the East German football. Winner of the season was on the east end of the season SG Dresden- Mickten, winner of Season West SG Lauter. In three finals, the SG Dresden- Mickten won 1-0, 1:2 and 3:2 the title.

From the season 1950/51 the newly DDR -Liga moved between the league and the national league, which the national league were mediocre. The last two were champion Saxony 1950/51 BSG Sachsenverlag Plauen and 1951/52, the BSG Empor Wurzen. As 1952, the East German states were dissolved and replaced by 15 districts, took the place of the national leagues parallel to the state outline fifteen regional leagues. In Saxony were the District League Leipzig, the Dresden District League and District League Chemnitz ( from 1953 Karl -Marx-Stadt ).
