Sadegh Mahsouli

Sadeq or Sadegh Mahsuli (Persian صادق محصولی; * 1959 ) is a former commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and was dated 18 November 2008 to September 3, 2009 Iranian interior minister in the government of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; voting in the Iranian parliament, he received 138 votes in favor, 112 against and 20 abstentions.

Mahsuli studied engineering and economics at the University of Tehran, was commander in the first Gulf War, then governor of the province of Urmia and campaign manager of Ahmadinejad during the Iranian presidential election in 2005. Mahsuli is considered one of the closest confidants of the Iranian president. Prior to his narrow election of the Interior Mahsuli was assigned as Minister of the Iranian Oil Ministry, but was rejected by Parliament because of its unresolved financial circumstances. For the Iranian presidential election in 2009, he served as Home Secretary and Returning Officer for the implementation and monitoring of the election. He announced the turnout and the result of the election.
