Safiye Ayla

Safiye Ayla (* September 13, 1907 in İstanbul, † 14 January 1998, ibid ) was one of the most famous singers of Turkish classical music ( Turkish Klasik Türk Müzigi ).

She began her musical training as a piano student. She took lessons with Mustafa Sunar and taught himself to work as the main soloist until she started in major casinos of the time.

She has collaborated with the most important artists of the era, including Yesari Asım Arsoy, Hafiz Ahmet Irsoy, Selahattin Pınar, Saadettin Kaynak and Udi Nevres Bey. She sang in 1932 at the invitation of the Governor of Istanbul Ataturk ago and became his favorite singer.

In 1950 she married the artist Serif Muhittin Targan. She gave numerous concerts for radio stations in Istanbul and Ankara, took on more than 500 records and was known outside of Turkey.

Safiye Ayla was because of her vocal style in which it also infuses Western musical forms, the most famous and successful singer of that time. It could even sing the highest notes without loss of voice and laid great emphasis on pronunciation. Her repertoire, which included classical, modern and folk songs, inspired a wide audience.

With Seninle Doğan gündür bu gönül and Aşk yaprağına konarak koza öresim gelir, she proved that she could also write songs. In 1942 she exhibited with the role as Queen Mimoza in the theater performance Alabanda also acting talent.

Safiye Ayla counts with Müzeyyen Senar and Hamiyet Yüceses to Üç dev Cinar ( " three big maples " ), a title of honor of the Turkish population.
