Sagavanirktok River

Sagavanirktok River and Dalton Highway

It rises on the north flank of the Brooks Range between Endicott and Philip Smith Mountains and ends at Prudhoe Bay in the Beaufort Sea.

Between Atigun Pass and Deadhorse Dalton Highway and the Trans-Alaska pipeline running parallel to the Sagavanirktok River over long distances.

The name of the Eskimos for the river was recorded in 1901 by SJ Marsh, a prospector, as " Sawanukto ", which translates as "strong flow " means.
