Sagonne

Sagonne is a commune with 219 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Cher in the Centre region; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint- Amand- Montrond and Canton Sancoins.

History

Sagonne bears his name after the Roman goddess Soucouna protection to the base of a statue with her name was found here. Sagonne is a Gallo- Roman oppidum on the Roman road from Lyon to Bourges on Autun. The first written record comes from the year 832, as Wicfried, Count of Bourges, the Domaine his daughter Agane the occasion of her marriage to Robert the Strong handed.

From Agane the counts of Blois and Champagne come from, who added the fief Sagonne the County Sancerre.
