The group is a major promoter of sports in India. It had the new IPL team Pune Warriors India and is furthermore one of the top sponsors of the Indian cricket team. It owns 42.5% stake in the Formula 1 team Force India, which it acquired in October 2011. It also sponsors the Indian national hockey team of men. Furthermore, the airline Air Sahara was in their possession, which was established on 20 September 1991. On 3 December 1993 with two Boeing 737-200 aircraft it became operational. On 12 April 2007 the airline was acquired by Jet Airways for approximately 350 million U.S. dollars. Subsequently, Air Sahara was renamed JetLite, and operated as a low cost airline.
