Saint-Avé

Saint- Avé ( Breton: Sant - Teve ) is a commune with 10,559 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs administratively to the district and to Vannes Vannes -Est Canton.

Geography

The municipality is located in the metropolitan area north-east of Vannes. Neighboring municipalities of Saint- Avé are:

  • Locqueltas in the north,
  • Monterblanc in the Northeast,
  • Saint- Nolf in the east,
  • Vannes in the south,
  • Plecop in the west and
  • Meucon in the northwest.

The municipality is crossed by the streams Bilair, Lihuanten and Gornay that result in Vannes in the Etang du Duc and from there across the estuary of the Bilair, named Marle, draining into the Gulf of Morbihan.

Transport links

Saint- Avé is easily accessible from all technically by its proximity to Vannes. ( Vannes - Ploërmel ) On the southern boundary of the municipality, the national road N166 runs, the western municipality of the department is road D767 ( Vannes - Pontivy ) crosses. Both are expanded highway-like in this section. The railway line from Vannes to Redon runs through the municipality. The airport Vannes - Meucon is about five kilometers to the north.
