Saint-Jeanvrin

Saint- Jeanvrin is a commune with 168 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Cher in the Centre region.

Geography

Saint- Jeanvrin is located in the center of France in the southwest of the department of Cher, about 50 kilometers southwest of the city of Bourges, 25 kilometers southwest of Saint- Amand- Montrond, headquarters of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissements, and 4.5 kilometers northeast of Châteaumeillant, the capital of canton and the Association of Municipalities Boischaut -Marche, on an average height of 236 meters above the sea level. The Mairie stands at a height of 223 meters. Neighboring municipalities of Saint- Jeanvrin are Beddes in the West, Le Châtelet in the Northeast, Saint -Maur in the east and Châteaumeillant in the southwest. History

Originally Saint- Jeanvrin was a part of Beddes. The church Saint -Georges was mentioned in a Papal Bull as a church Saint- Jeanvrin 1115 for the first time. She was under the Abbey of Déols. Saint- Jeanvrin was a fief seat, the first Seigneur Guillaume Espinaz was. Towards the end of the 12th century was under the fiefdom of the Seigneurie of Le Châtelet. Culture and sights
