Saint-Sernin-du-Plain

Saint- Sernin- du-Plain is a commune of 625 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Saône -et -Loire in the Burgundy Region.

Geography

The municipality is located seventeen kilometers north-east of Le Creusot and about 25 kilometers northwest of Chalon -sur -Saône, at the foot of Mont Rome.

History

Saint- Sernin was a parish from the 12th/13th. Century founded. The economic priorities were in the Middle Ages viticulture and agriculture, in the 19th and 20th centuries in addition industry, especially the mining of iron ore in Mazenay. 1872 the community had more than 2000 inhabitants.
