Saint Thaddeus and Bartholomew Cathedral

St. Thaddaeus and Bartholomew's Cathedral in Baku, 1910

The St. Thaddeus and Bartholomew's Cathedral (Armenian Սուրբ Թադեւոս - Բարդուղիմեոս Մայր Տաճար, Azerbaijani Surp Tadevos - Barduğimeos Erməni Kilsəsi, Russian Церковь Святого Фаддея и Варфоломея ), also known as Budakowski Cathedral, was an Armenian Apostolic Church in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, which was built in 1910 and inaugurated in 1911 in the former Russian Empire. It was located at the Bondarnaja - Dmitrowa Street (today Schamsi - Badalbejli Street).

The construction began on August 2, 1907, and was completed in 1910. The architect of the cathedral was Hovhannes Katschasnuni, who later became the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Armenia.

As part of a systematic policy of destruction of religious buildings, the cathedral was destroyed in 1930 during the reign of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin and replaced by the building of the Baku Music Academy.
