Sal Salvador

Sal Salvador ( born November 21, 1925 in Monson, Massachusetts, † September 22, 1999 in Stamford, Connecticut ) was an American jazz guitarist and bandleader of modern jazz.

Sal Salvador began his professional career in 1945, in 1949 went to New York, worked with Terry Gibbs, Mundell Lowe and 1951 with the Radio City Music Hall band. 1953-54 he played in the Stan Kenton band; he worked at Kenton album New Concepts of Artistry in Rhythm with, on which he can be heard as a soloist with the title " Inventions for Guitar and Trumpet ". From 1954 headed Salvador own formation, in 1958 a big band. He has performed at the Jazz Festival in Newport ( with Sonny Stitt ) and in the festival film Jazz On A Summer 's Day. The mid-1960s, he headed back ensembles in smaller ensembles. Salvador was also participated in recordings with Eddie Bert, Lenny Hambro and Don Bagley.

In later years, Sal Salvador mainly worked as a guitar teacher.
