Salazie

Salazie is a municipality with 7418 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French overseas department of Réunion.

Geography

Salazie located in the center of the island of Réunion. The neighboring communities of Salazie are in the north of Sainte -Marie, in the northeast of Sainte-Suzanne and Saint -André, in the eastern Bras- Panon, in the southeast of Saint- Benoît, southwest Cilaos and Saint- Paul ( contact point), to the west of La Possession and northwest Saint- Denis.

History

1899 Salazie was the French community. Earlier, it was a haven for former slaves. The part of the municipality village Hell-Bourg is one of the most beautiful villages in France.
