Salil Shetty

Salil Shetty (* in Bangalore ) is the Secretary General of Amnesty International.

Biography

Shetty is a son working in the women's rights movement Indian lawyer and her husband, who for the rights of Dalits, who committed to "untouchable ". Salil Shetty grew up in Mumbai and studied in Ahmedabad and London, management and social policy.

By 2009, he headed for six years, the Millennium program of the United Nations. Previously, he was CEO of global non-governmental organization ActionAid.

On 21 December 2009 Shetty was presented as the next secretary general of the human rights organization. He took terminated until the year 2016 office in July 2010 as a successor to Irene Khan.
