Salman Khan (educator)

Salman Khan ( born October 11, 1976 in New Orleans) is an American educator. He is the founder and CEO of the free learning portal Khan Academy. For this he created over 3,000 instructional videos.

Life

Grew up with his mother in New Orleans, he attended a public school. His father came from Barisal in Bangladesh, his mother from Calcutta. He holds several academic degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He created early in 2004, small educational films, with which he gave his cousin Nadia in mathematics tutoring. Due to the success Khan soon produced more and more videos to explain different types of content, which he presented publicly available on the internet and have been very popular because of their good intelligibility. In 2008, he told the viewers of television news channel CNN after his method live the interrelationships of the nation's economy crippling financial crisis due to real estate speculation. Until 2009 he worked as a financial analyst at Connective Capital Management in Boston; then he gave the position on, however, to devote himself entirely to the development of its learning method. He lives with his wife, a Specialist in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, and his son in Mountain View, California.
