Salnecke Castle

Salnecke Castle is a magnificent building and Familienfideikommiss in the Swedish municipality of Enköping in the historic province of Uppland. It is located near the village of Örsundsbro north of the river Örsundaån.

The building has three main floors, basement and double attic was built in 1640. The client was the mining Master George Grißbach. Furthermore, there is a built of brick wing and two wooden outbuildings.

The castle belonging to the estate existed since the Middle Ages and was there among others the large landowners Bo Jonsson Grip. In 1383 the estate was given to the Poor Clare Monastery in Stockholm, which owned it until 1460. Then it came to the Archbishop Jöns Bengtsson Oxenstierna. After the Diet of Västerås 1527 Salnecke was drafted and declared the crown estate. 1626 gave King Gustav II Adolf Salnecke his secretary and diplomat Philipp Sattler. After his death in 1641 Salnecke came into the possession of George Grissbachs. The locksmith of 'family was up for sale of the goods by the year 1730 owners. The buyer was the Graf family Spens, who owned it until 1830. After Good Salnecke passed into the possession of the Gyllenadler 's family, who lives in the castle.

On October 9, 1964 Castle Salnecke received from the Provincial Administration in Uppsala County the status of a monument.
