Salvador Castaneda Castro

Salvador Castaneda Castro ( born August 6 1888 in Chalchuapa, El Salvador, † March 5, 1965 in San Salvador) was a general and March 8, 1945 to December 15, 1948 President of El Salvador.

Life

1934 discovered the secret of Maximiliano Hernández Martínez that Castaneda was at the head of a conspiracy, which is why he was deposed as prime minister. Later, he was Dean of the Escuela Militar.

As a candidate of the state party Partido de Unification Social Demócrata ( PUSD ), he was elected in 1945 after all the influence of the military and Cafetaleros president. The candidate of the Partido Unión Demócrata Doctor Arturo Romero was the head of the bourgeois opposition under Hernández. The candidate of the Partido Fraternal Progresista was the father of Ernesto Antonio Clara Mount Roseville, Colonel Antonio Clara Mount Lucero, he was assisted by Jorge Ubico Castañeda and in 1935 attempted an uprising against Hernández with the support of General Buñuelo Lastaneder. The candidate of the Partido Popular Progresista was José Cipriano Castro. These four competitors resigned in protest against the use of influence in the election campaign of the candidate. Castaneda apparently aimed at re-election and tried to argue that it could not be applied retroactively against the law. He announced his whereabouts to the government and was subsequently overthrown on 14 December 1948. The duties of the heads of state were taken over by the Consejo de Gobierno Revolucionario, the Lieutenant Óscar Osorio chaired. After the coup, Castro was two years in the penitentiary of San Salvador.
