Salvatore Nicolosi

Salvatore Nicolosi ( born February 20, 1922 in Pedara; † January 10, 2014 in Noto ) was bishop of Noto.

Life

Salvatore Nicolosi studied philosophy and theology at the seminary in Catania and received on 22 October 1944, the ordination. After a theological Lizenziatsstudium at the Pontifical Gregorian University, he studied canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University and the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. He was for several years pastor of the Annunziata nella sua città natale in Pedara.

On March 21, 1963, he was by Pope Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Lipari. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Carlo Confalonieri, secretary of the Congregation consistorialis ( Consistorial ), on 21 April 1963 in the Cathedral of Catania; Co-consecrators were Francesco Carpino, Archbishop Curia and prosecuted ex officio of the Congregation for Bishops, and Luigi Guido Bentivoglio, Archbishop of Catania. His episcopal motto was " Questa è la nostra vittoria che ha il mondo sconfitto: la nostra fede " ( This is our victory that has overcome the world: ., Our faith (1 John 5:4) ).

Nicolosi was a Council Father of the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council.

On June 27, 1970, he was named Paul VI. Bishop of Noto. He was committed to the Fondazione Madre Teresa di Calcutta.

On June 19, 1998 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
