Sam Adams (politician)

Sam Adams ( born September 3, 1963 in Whitehall, Jefferson County, Montana ) is an American politician of the Democrats and former mayor of the city of Portland, Oregon.

Life

Adams was born in 1963 as son of Karalie and Larry Adams, a specialist teacher and high school basketball coach in Montana. When Adams was two years old, his family moved for a year to Richland, Washington, then on to Newport and finally to Eugene in Oregon. There, his parents divorced. Adams grew up with his mother. He graduated from South Eugene High School and then attended the University of Oregon. From 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2012, Adams was mayor of the city of Portland. Adams lives openly homosexual. His significant other is the journalist Peter Zuckerman.

Currently, Sam Adams is alleged to have lied about an affair with a 17 -year-old employee in the election campaign. There were two unsuccessful attempts to initiate recall proceedings against him due to these allegations.

Sam Adams had a cameo appearance in the 2011 comedy series Portlandia, where he played the assistant of the mayor of Portland ( Episode 2 and 4, Season 1 ).
