Sam Soliman

Sam Soliman ( born November 13, 1973 in Melbourne) is an Australian professional boxer Egyptian origin.

Career

The experienced martial artist ( Taekwondo, Karate, Kick Boxing, Amateur Boxing ) won, among others, in 1994 in only his sixth fight, the ISKA title in kickboxing against Evangelos Goussis ( Record: 25-2 ). As an amateur boxer, he won 84 of 95 fights.

In 1997 he began professional boxing and won in the same year the Australian Cruiserweight Championship. Followed in 1999 by Australian Champion title at middleweight and super middleweight. In June 2000, he had a premature victory against Neville Brown ( 32-7 ) and thus winning the Commonwealth middleweight championship. However, this title he lost in the first defense on points to Howard Eastman. In the fight for the IBO world middleweight championship on January 27, 2001 in Amsterdam, he was defeated by the Dutch titleholders Raymond Joval ( 24-2 ) by a majority vote of the judges (2:1).

After following points victory against Cornelius Carr ( 34-3 ), he punched in September 2001 for the first time against his compatriot and later twice WBA champion Anthony Mundine (8-0 ), but lost again by a majority decision. Then he remained unbeaten in 19 fights, where he scored among other notable victories against Sakio Bika ( 10-0 ), Nader Hamdan ( 32-0 ) and Raymond Joval ( 32-2). In a world title eliminator fight in December 2005, however, he was defeated on points against Ronald Wright ( 49-3 ).

After a won battle against the two-time world title challenger Enrique Ornelas ( 25-2 ), he boxed again against Anthony Mundine to the WBA middleweight championship. However, He lost for the first time in his career prematurely after four knockdowns in the ninth round. However, after following victories against Max Alexander (14-0 ) and Wayne Johnsen ( 17-2 ), he appeared for the third time against Mundine in the ring, but lost again on points.

Then he won seven fights for himself again, where he also defeated Eromosele Albert ( 24-5 ) and Giovanni Lorenzo ( 31-4 ). This allowed him on February 1, 2013, present a world championship elimination bout against Felix Sturm ( 37-3 ). First declared the unanimous winner on points, Soliman was later demonstrated taking the performance-enhancing agent Methylsynephrine. The fight was therefore judged retrospectively as not counted. After a nine- month ban, he won in 2013 against prematurely Les Sherrington ( 33-6 ).
