Samara Airlines was a Russian airline based in the Volga city of Samara. A branch office under the Company held in Moscow.

History

Samara Airlines was founded in 1996 and started operations with aircraft from the holdings of Aeroflot. 1998-2000 won the company three times a prize as the best Russian airline. In 2005, the company employed more than 1500 employees. The company is holding a share of 40 % of the airline in the sphere of influence of the Russian airline manager and twin brothers Boris and Alexander Mikhailovich Abramovich. It is headed by the Director General Sergei Mordwinzew.

In 2004, the company has joined forces with four other Russian airlines in the Abramovich brothers Allianz AiRUnion. At the end of 2007 it was planned that the five companies will merge under the name AirUnion to a major airline - but it never happened because AirUnion due to financial problems stopped operating in September 2008 and thus, the end of Samara Airlines was sealed.

Objectives

The Company maintained numerous scheduled flights to major cities of Russia and other CIS countries, as well as five airlines outside the Eastern European region ( Vienna, Prague, Beijing, Tel -Aviv and Cyprus, and Egypt).
