Sammlung Grässlin

The collection is a Grasslin compiled by Dieter and Anna Graesslin from Sankt Georgen in the Black Forest and their children Bärbel, Thomas, Sabine and Karola art collection. The private collection includes works of contemporary art.

The origin of the collection lies in the 1970s, when the parents Graesslin began to collect works of the German Informal. Your children collected from 1981 Artist positions in the 1980s. Their attention focused on the art of the immediate present. The art of the 1980s, for which they decided, was by no means complacent and not without controversy far. Rather, were works of Werner Büttner, Martin Kippenberger, Albert Oehlen and Markus felt like the sculptural works of Genzken, Hubert Kiecol, Georg Herold or Meuser as bulky, cynical or even pretentious. Positions that contradicted by irony and disavowal of the bourgeois understanding of contemporary art. Since the early 1990s, the collection is enhanced by young international positions such as Kai Althoff, Cosima von Bonin, Tom Burr, Mark Dion, Michael Krebber, Simon Dybbroe Møller, Christian Philipp Müller, Vincent Tavenne and Jan Timme, and with the conceptual issues territoriality deal.
