Samuel A. Weiss

Samuel Arthur Weiss ( born April 15, 1902 in Krotowocz, Poland, † February 1, 1977 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1941 and 1946 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1903, Samuel Weiss came with his parents from his native Poland after Glassport, Pennsylvania. He attended the public schools of his new home. In 1925 he graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. After a subsequent law studies at the University's School of Law and was admitted as an attorney of his 1927 he began working in Pittsburgh in this profession. In the meantime, he was also director of the local Roselia Maternity Hospital. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1935 and 1939 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1940, Weiss was in the 31 electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Republican John McDowell on January 3, 1941. After two re- elections he could remain until his resignation on January 7, 1946 at the Congress. Until 1943 he represented the 31, 1943-1945 30 and then the 33rd district of his state. His time as a congressman was largely shaped by the events of World War II.

White resigned his seat after he was elected Judge of the Court of Appeals in Allegheny County. This office he held until 1967. In 1968 he was president of the Administration of Justice of his state ( Pennsylvania State Judicial Administration). Samuel Weiss died on February 1, 1977 in Pittsburgh, where he was also buried.
