Samuel Myron Brainerd

Samuel Myron Brainerd ( born November 13, 1842 in Albion, Erie County, Pennsylvania, † November 21, 1898 in Erie, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1883 and 1885 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Samuel Brainerd attended the public schools of his home and then the Edinboro Normal School. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and his 1869 was admitted to the bar he began in North East to work in this profession. Between 1872 and 1875 he was district attorney in Erie County. Since 1874 he has been resident in the city of Erie, where he practiced law. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In 1880 he was a Republican district board in Erie County.

In the congressional elections of 1882 was Brainerd in the 27th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Lewis Findlay Watson on March 4, 1883. Since he was not nominated by his party for re-election in 1884, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1885. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Samuel Brainerd worked as a lawyer again. He died on November 21, 1898 in Erie, where he was also buried.
