Sangju Sangmu FC

The Sangju Sangmu FC is a football franchise from Sangju, South Korea. Currently playing the franchise in the K League Classic, the top division of South Korea.

History

The franchise took in 2003 as Gwangju Sangmu Phoenix, based in Gwangju play activities in the K-League on. It finished 10th. Prior to 2003 there were in lower leagues already a team in lower leagues. 2004 took the franchise to 8th place, the best ever placement in the K- League. By 2010, the team never came then on the 11th square. 2011 the team was relocated to Sangju and renamed Sangju Sangmu Phoenix. 2012 The descent was introduced in the K-League, so it is called from 2013 K -League Classic. The team finished in 16th and last place. She got so into the K League Challenge. At the end of the 2013 season the Sangju Sangmu FC finished in 1st place and went after two relegation matches against Gangwon FC back into the top flight.

The team is an athletic department of the South Korean military. Therefore, the cadres of the franchises of young professional football players, which just serve their military service. Each year about 15 new players come to the franchise and remain there for two years before they go back to their previous franchises. Due to the military status of the franchise, he is not allowed to undertake foreign players.

Stadium

Sangju Sangmu Phoenix plays its home games at the stadium Sangju. When the team was still playing in Gwanju, they wore their home games in Guus Hiddink from the stadium.
