Sant Adrià de Besòs

Sant Adrià de Besòs ( katalan. ) and San Adrián de Besós (Spanish ) is a Catalan city in the metropolitan area of Barcelona in Spain and belongs to the metropolitan area Area Metropolitana de Barcelona.

Location

Sant Adrià de Besòs is located on both sides of the mouth of the Besòs. The original settlement with the parish church is on the left bank in the north of the municipality. The community itself is a collection of residential and, especially, industrial zones.

History

The town's origins lie in the parish church of Sant Adria, which was first mentioned in 1012. In the year 1092 there is a Prioratskloster the Augustinians founded. 1127 the monastery was moved to Santa Maria de Terrassa. To this church around, west of the Besòs, the old town center is located on a small, 14-meter- high hill.

Economy

Today, the economic life in Sant Adrià is determined by the service, but there are also a diverse manufacturing sector (especially metal processing, chemical and construction) in primarily medium-sized companies.
