Santiago is a city of 51 088 inhabitants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. It is located about 450 kilometers west of Porto Alegre. Adjacent are the places Bossoroca, Capão do Cipó, Tupanciretã, Jari, Jaguari, Nova Esperança do Sul, São Francisco de Assis, Unistalda and Itacurubi. It was originally part of the municipalities of Santiago and São Borja Itaqui.
