Santo Tomás District, Luya

Santo Tomás is one of the 23 districts that make up the Peru province of Luya in the region of the Amazon.

Geography

Santo Tomas is located in the high mountains and at night it is often bitterly cold. In the east, the district of Santo Tomás from the river Utcubamba is limited. In the district of Santo Tomás, there are many ruins of the Chachapoyas culture.

In the north of the district of Santo Tomás borders the district of San Juan de Lopecancha ( Luya ), to the east by the district of La Jalca ( Chachapoyas ) and the district Leymebamba ( Chachapoyas ), to the south by the district of San Francisco del Yeso ( Luya ), in south to the district Coca Bamba and to the west by the district María ( Luya ).

The village festival in Santo Tomás is on 21 December, the feast of St. Thomas instead.
