Sanyo

Sanyo Denki K. K. (Japanese三洋 电机 株式会社Denki Kabushiki - San'yo gaisha, Eng. SANYO Electric Co. Ltd.. ) is a Japanese company with headquarters in Moriguchi, Osaka Prefecture, and now a wholly owned subsidiary of Panasonic. Sanyo mainly produces electrical and electronic end products and components.

History

Sanyo was founded in 1947 by Toshio Iue (井 植 歳 男Iue Toshio, 1902-1969 ), a former Matsushita employee and brother of the founder Matsushita Konosuke Matsushita. The name means "three oceans " and expresses the intention of the Group to distribute its products worldwide through the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean. The company began as a manufacturer of bicycle lamps.

Sanyo was located for many years in economic difficulties. 2005 rescued banks Sanyo with a cash injection from certain end. For fiscal year 2006, calculated market watchers with a loss of 50 billion yen ( in the previous two years, the company wrote each loss over one billion euros ) and Sanyo therefore considered a sale of retail branches in the area mobile phone, digital camera, TV and home appliances. In December 2006, the shares were issued to a joint venture for LCD screens to the partner Seiko Epson to pressure from the banks. Public pressure on the Sanyo leadership grew in 2007 when accounting scandals came to light. Personnel consequences followed. So the CEO Tomoyo Nonaka abdicated and a week later Toshimasa Iue chief for business operations. With the departure of Iue said goodbye to the last member of the founding family of the leadership team of the company.

In December 2009, Panasonic took over through the acquisition of a majority stake Sanyo. 2010, the semiconductor division was sold to Sanyo Semiconductor ON Semiconductor. On July 29, 2010 Panasonic announced that agreement had been reached with Sanyo to make these from April 2011 to a subsidiary of Panasonic and the Sanyo brand will continue to be used in certain regions and business areas. After the takeover San'yo Denki was deleted at the end of the trading year in March 2011 from the Nikkei 225. The household appliances range was sold to Haier in the same year.
