Sargé-sur-Braye

Sargé -sur -Braye is a commune with 1038 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Loir -et -Cher in the Centre region. The village lies in the valley of Braye, at the mouth of its tributary Grenne. Mayor since 2001, Gerard Rousseau.

History

To Sargé -sur -Braye the Château des Radrets belongs with the most complete defenses of the Vendômois (16th - 17th century). The Château itself dates from the 15th - 16th Century. There is a small bridge with the Basse- cour, the lower courtyard, connected, on which was the Manoir de Tesnay before the construction of the Château, the first known building at this point.

The ensemble was as Château de la Berruère (or de la Bruère ) until the 16th century, the same family from which especially Beatrix de la Berruère ( 1294-1348 ) is known, the mistress of King Philip VI. of France ( 1293-1350 ). In 1522 the castle was sold to Jean d' Illiers. His descendants gave the plant in 1677 the new name. 1765, the castle of Anne Racine, Jean Racine's granddaughter was purchased.
