Saris

Saris is a German band from Bochum. The group is attributed to the hard rock and progressive rock bands.

History

Founded saris of Derk Akkermann (guitar, keyboards) and Udo Raitzig (bass ) after the band "Review" disbanded. Inspired by the then so-called art-rock and progressive rock bands of the 1970s such as Genesis, Camel, Kansas, Saga, among other things, they played from the beginning his own compositions, which are oriented to the great role models, but also always a penchant for hard- rock showed.

Saris developed in the 1980s to a well- booked a live band and found their style in melodic, symphonic hard rock. The single Out of Your Night ( 1983) was not accepted by the fans, because stylistically removed this from Saris typical sound.

After a break of four years and a radical shake-up the album Dead End Street (1993 ) was published. This work, however remote from the harsher elements and also sold only to insiders.

The breakthrough came with the album Curse of Time (2009 ), which is modeled more after the original style of the band. Derk Akkermann reformed earlier ( 2006) sarees in completely new line-up after he was able to inspire the jazz drummer and successful film composers Achim Schmidt with his compositions. Akkermann and Schmidt worked for two years at the material and were inspired here by bands like Kansas, Saga, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Magnum. Bassist and singer Anja Lutz Günther Günther up a 2007. For the lead and backing vocals, Thomas Hackmann is responsible.

Singer Thomas " Hacky " Hackmann has worked with many German and international rock projects as a lead and backing vocalist. (eg Genius with Steve Walsh and John Wetton, Saxon, Rage, Halloween, Blind Guardian, etc. )
