Šarūnas Birutis

Šarūnas Birutis ( born September 20, 1961 in Šiauliai) is a Lithuanian politician. Degutis is a member of the European Parliament for the Darbo partija ( Workers' Party ) and member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe since 2004.

Education and work

After completing his school education at Juliaus Janonio school in Šiauliai 1979 Birutis began studying at the Faculty of Industrial Economics of Vilnius University and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Economics from. In 2003, he acquired after studying law at the University of Vilnius also a Master of Arts. Birutis also attended various training courses for management, policy and public administration. In addition, he completed an internship in Japan.

Birutis worked from 1982 to 1984 in the Commercial Division of the Lietuvos nacionalinis dramos teatras. Policy

Birutis 2003 was a member of the Presidium of the Labour Party and chairman of the Committee on Economy, Industry and Trade of the Labor Party. Since 2004 he represents the Labour Party in the European Parliament. Since 2012 he is Minister of Culture.

Birutis is married and has one daughter.
