Sasu Hovi

Sasu Hovi ( born August 12, 1982 in Toijala ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender, who plays for the HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga since 2009.

Career

Sasu Hovi began his career at his home club junior Tappara Tampere. After he had gone through all the junior teams, he was during the season 2000 /01 by Jussi Markkanen Backup twice in the first Finnish league, the SM- liiga. In the following season, he then gave his debut in the SM- liiga and peaked at six inserts a catch rate of 96 percent.

Until 2005, he continued to play mainly for Tappara in the SM- liiga, but also got inserts at the Pelicans as well as Kokkolan Hermes, KooKoo, Kiekko -Vantaa and Hokki Kajaani in the second Finnish league. In summer 2005, he left Finland and moved to the Czech Extraliga for HC Vsetin. However, the Czech veteran missed the playoffs and had in the relegation defend its place in the Extraliga. After this disappointing season Hovi joined Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Extraliga, where he was in his first year Slovakian champion. Especially in the playoffs he showed a superior performance with a capture rate of 96 percent and a Gegentorschnitt of 1.57 and was awarded the best goalkeeper of the season. The same ceremony, he was at the European Champions Cup in 2008 to participate.

After the season 2008 /09 he got Slovan no contract extension and signed a contract with the Czech climber HC Kometa Brno.

During the summer Hovi inline hockey plays and participated with the Finnish national team at the IIHF Inline Hockey World Cup 2007, where the Finnish selection took second place.
