Satellite Bay is the first studio album by the German post-rock band Long Distance Calling. It was released on October 5, 2007 on Viva Hate Records.

Formation

The seven -heard songs on the album were written between early 2006 and early 2007. The recordings for the album were within three and a half days in April 2007 in Oldenburg Tonmeisterei instead. Can be heard in the song The Very Last Day singer Peter Dolving of the Swedish band The Haunted as a guest musician.

The idea to name the first song of the album maiden flight, bassist Jan Hoffmann came in the studio. Since it is the first song on the first album of the band was the song that name. Fire in the Mountain contains a quote from the parable Before the Law by Franz Kafka. The sentence "This door which Intended only for you", in German: " This door was intended only for you" is meant to express that a person has to jump over his shadow.

According to Alexander Eitner from the online magazine metalnews.de show long distance calling that they are able to write about the playing time of a full studio album " captivating and varied songs ," for which the album 6.5 Eitner was of possible seven points. For Markus Endres from the online magazine metal.de Long Distance Calling tear " down walls and kidnap listener into other spheres ," for which he missed eight out of ten. Thomas Kohlruß of the Baby Blue Pages described Satellite Bay as a " great debut of a truly outstanding instrumental band ", which you can still, however, the " limited technical possibilities Studio sounds ," for which Kohlruß ten awarded 15 points.
