Satna (Hindi: सतना, Satna ) is a town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It has about 280,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) and is the administrative center of the district Satna. Satna is a center of the Indian construction industry.

Location and transport

Several federal state highways and national highways pass through Satna. Thus, there are links to the longest national highway NH- seventh NH -75 passes Satna and connects Panna and Riva. The nearest airport is at Khajuraho, about 120 km from Satna removed and connected to Satna by the Chatarpur - Satna road. Satna itself has a small airfield for sports equipment. In rail transport, the city lies on the busy route connecting Mumbai and Howrah.

Education

The next universities are the Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday University in Chitrakut and Awadhesh Pratap Singh University in Riva, which also operates campuses in Satna.

Attractions

Among the main attractions include the nearby towns of Maihar, Chitrakut, Riva and about 100 kilometers north- temples of Khajuraho. The Tulsi Museum in Ramvam is located about 16 km from Satna and displays unique ancient sculptures from the area. The Shiva temple in Birsinghpur is also a historic building. About 25 km southeast of Nagod is the remarkable temple site of surname.
