Savannakhet Province

Savannakhet ( Lao ແຂວງ ສະ ຫວັນ ນະ ເຂດ ) is a province in the south of Laos.

In the north Khammuan forms, in the south Salavan, Vietnam to the east, and Thailand to the west the border.

In the French -Thai War, the city was bombed and later occupied by the Thai army. It was not until the end of 2006, when the second Thai - Lao Friendship bridge was built to connect directly to Thailand was opened.
